GAP Inc and USAID Women + Water Alliance
Last year I had the opportunity to work, with the team at A Little Anarky FIlms, on a great project  by USAID and GAP Inc called the Women+Water Alliance

USAID and Gap Inc. aim to draw upon their complementary strengths to improve the health and wellbeing of women, families, and communities in countries of shared interest, starting in India. Learn more about the Women + Water Alliance, and how every partner makes a unique contribution at https://www.globalwaters.org/Women-Water-Alliance

As part of the project, my task was to help with the visualization of a brief animation that would give an overview of the Alliance, and then create the animation based on the illustrations made by the team at A Little A Films.
Gap Inc. & USAID Women + Water Alliance Overview
Colors
In order to bring the viewer into Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, we used the brand colors - Blue, beige, red, off black, and grey along with accents in green and beige to build the stage for the animation.
Animation
Through this project we wished to shine a light to the issues faced by women in villages employed in the garment manufacturing chain and how the water bodies of those villages are affected by the garment manufacturing chain. Using the analysis carried out by the partners, and the work done on ground we chose to divide the animation into 2 main parts divided by a piece to camera section in the middle. We added another piece to cam in the end to showcase the partners who carried out the work on ground.

In part 1, using an info-graphic style we introduce the issues and how they specifically affect the regions in the garment manufacturing chain, using elements like farms, looms, sewing machines and packaging boxes to show the industry. And elements like dirty water, barren land, and dictating men to show how it affects women and water in those regions.
Using a thread to link together the three sections of the garment industry - Farming, Processing and Stitching to bring home global employment figures.
Establishing the impact of the garment sector on freshwater pollution
Using looms to explain the primarily female employment across all sectors in the garment industry
Using men dictating to women to showcase the condition of women in villages
In between the animated parts, we bring the partners on to formally introduce the project and the areas in focus. Using quick text animations we highlighted certain words in this section which were in focus.
Text animations to add emphasis
In part 2 of the animation, we use 2-D character animation to make the scenes more attractive to showcase the work done by partners on ground and how it actually helped improve the lives of women and quality of water in the region. We use scenes like trainers holding group training sessions & teaching hand washing, to show hygiene improvement in the region. To showcase women empowerment in village life we show women having a greater say in their home life and joining village panchayats (local governing bodies). Using clean water we also showcase the improvement in the water quality of the local water bodies.

After part 2 of the animation, we dedicate the last part to the partners on ground. In the piece to cam section, they explain in-depth the work carried out by their teams and how it helped greatly in uplifting the lives of women and the quality of water in the regions.
This video was the result of a lot of hard work by the team at A Little Anarky Films. I helped with the visualization and carried out the animation and editing on my own.
