Amiyaa, the Indian Meal planner is a first of its kind application geared towards planning meals specifically for an Indian audience. I along with Akshita Wadhwana, founder of The Empty Crate Company, had the opportunity to work on specific in-app illustrations for the platform and then to animate an overview video for them.

The problem being solved by Amiyaa is new and unique to the Indian market as no such app exists but the question of what to cook is something that every household faces almost regularly. In order to make the app friendly and attractive to the Indian audience, Akshita chose to make Amiyaa a friendly face, like a parental figure that helps the user decide what to cook today.

When writing the visuals for the video, keeping this in mind, we posed the question in a variety of Indian languages and carried on to showcase all the features of the application as friendly, relatable solutions with characters that are relatable, unique and familial, going on to end with the whole family, getting together at the dinner table and eating a meal.
Rigging the characters using Duik Bassel
For every section of the video, we placed a set of characters to introduce the section and close it. All the characters were animated by me using Duik Bassel. The app animations were done natively in after effects. A few examples of these are below.
This project was entertaining to work on with each character scene keeping the video relatable and engaging and each app animation kept as smooth and as snappy as possible.
